The following table compares some of the battery systems available in the UK. Prices are exclusive of VAT and as of June 2019, installing a battery together with a Solar PV system costs an additional 5%VAT; whereas fitting a battery to a solar system at a later date (retro-fitting) would normally cost 20% VAT.
However from the 1st of February 2024, VAT on solar batteries has been reduced to 0%. This measure is due to expire on the 31st March 2027 when the tax will revert to 20% at a reduced rate of 5%.
